Home Energy Overview

Our “Home Energy Guru”, Bob Fischman, made a very informative presentation to our first Forum on June 4.

Here is a copy of his slides.

Pace Report

The People’s Action for Clean Energy (PACE) has been working with quite a number of towns in Connecticut (including our neighbor to the north, Kent) to help them create a plan to reduce the carbon emissions coming from the towns.

Pace has done a study for Sherman, which shows how much total energy we are consuming – and the carbon emissions that we are responsible for in the process.

They report that Sherman spends $17.6 million each year on energy, or $4,821 per resident.

There are 43 residential solar installations, which provide 2.2% of the town’s electricity usage.  There are also 17 electric vehicles and 16 heat pumps.

They also have a number of recommendations for what homeowners can do to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
